Celeste Comic

Celeste is an 8-page mini comic zine exploring trauma, survival, and fighting back. With a little bit of celestial and naturalistic metaphor alongside an intimate visual narrative, the story follows Celeste as they navigate the moments before as well as the aftermath of the familiar pattern of harm they are subjected to, and the time everything changes.

The narrative shifts between reality and symbolic escapism: the ephemeral morning dew, orbiting hands in the dark, and the inevitability of a star burning out compared to the fragility of a corporeal body. We hear Celeste reflect on these ideas through an internal monologue, but their longing to disappear is pushed to the side as reality sets in and the internal tension builds towards an irreversible act.

Despite its heavy themes, Celeste is crafted with careful consideration, and is generally non-explicit.

This zine is made from a single folded A4 sheet of premium paper, hand-assembled by moi, and self-published. It is now available in my store. You can also read Celeste online here.

Content Warning: This comic contains depictions of implied physical/sexual violence, blood, death.
